Business Analyst - T2 Nise Project

Our client is looking for a skilled Business Analyst to play a key role in the design of Melbourne Airport's new Baggage Handling System (BHS) within the T2 Northern Infill Security Expansion (NISE) program, with a focus on the integration requirements between four baggage vendors, and business processes for the new BHS required to meet a new compliance standard for outbound checked baggage screening and baggage system performance benchmarks. The role will initially be a 6-month contract, with likely extension, and located at Tullamarine, VIC.

The role requires a data-driven approach with fine grained attention to detail to ensure requirements and specifications for vendor partners are a high standard and will deliver the business outcomes. The BA will collaborate with Business Stakeholders and vendor partners to ensure expected outcomes are achieved and to track future impact of benefits.

The Project:

T2 NISE - is required as the airport increases its high-level service and security for international travellers and airlines. The expansion will deliver baggage screening capability to European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) Standard 3 in the international terminal. When complete in 2025, the terminal will have five new baggage CT checked baggage screening (CBS) machines and additional storage capabilities.

Overall Responsibilities of Role:

• Lead stakeholder workshops for requirements elicitation, use case development and process mapping.
• Take ownership of business analysis artefacts and drive high quality business outcomes.
• Analyse and document high level requirements.
• Analyse and document detailed business requirements.
• Activity diagrams and use cases for the current BHS.
• Activity diagrams and use cases for the new BHS.
• Data flow diagrams for each vendors integration requirements.
• Detailed data interface requirements specifications.
• Identify opportunities for improvement in the future state processes.
• Perform gap analysis by comparing the vendors design response to APAMs requirements to determine any shortfalls.
• Review and acceptance of relevant vendor deliverables relating to requirements and design.
• Work with the various vendors teams to analyse the best approach for integration.
• Provide support to development and/or vendor team, answering any questions to ensure appropriate solutions are delivered.

Experience Required

• Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Business Management, or relevant area.
• Industry recognised certifications and/or training related to Business Analysis (e.g. Certification of Capability in Business Analysis CCBA, BABOK or equivalent).
• 5 years experience as a Business Analyst in a large and/or complex environment.
• Practical experience working in a multi-vendor environment.
• Advanced understanding of business analysis domain and knowledge of tools, methods, and communication techniques to extract, develop, validate, and document business requirements and functional specifications in an agile format.
• Experience in business requirements elicitation for data driven solutions.
• Experience working (influencing & negotiating) with a diverse set of stakeholders (of varying seniority) including development teams, testing teams, infrastructure teams, service partners and business representatives.
• Reporting skills.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and ability to influence people without direct authority.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to present information (both verbally and in writing) in an accurate, compelling, and succinct manner as appropriate to the audience.
• Experience and skill in prioritising and managing multiple tasks.
• Resilient and able to deal with ambiguity in situations where it arises.
• Able to operate with a reasonable degree of autonomy and accountability while delivering within broad strategic directions.
• Extensive experience with end-to-end complex software integration project delivery is essential.
• Any aviation industry experience would be beneficial, but not required.
