Yourrole  
As the Business Development and Key Accounts Manager you will initially be accountable for the Development and finalisation of retail energy contracts with government foundational customers in readiness for Go-Live of 1 July, working closely with the GM customer and broader Energy Markets team to ensure the contracts enable government customers to meet decarbonisation objectives whilst providing exceptional service and value.
 
You will also be responsible for setting up and leading a sales and account management team to develop a pipeline of retail contract opportunities and subsequently structuring and negotiating retail contracts aligned to SECs purpose and objectives and as a route to market for the SECs ongoing investment in renewable generation and battery assets in Victoria.  
  
This is a pivotal role in building out the SECs retail offering aligned to the SECs purpose of accelerating Victoria’s transition to renewable energy and enabling achievement of decarbonisation objectives for Victorian businesses.  
  
This role can be based in either our Melbourne CBD office or our regional office located in Morwell.  
  
What you will do:  
  • Build and maintain relationships with SEC’s government and Key account customers. 
  • Define and manage key customer account strategies, sales plans and forecasts, aligned to SECs purpose of helping Victorian businesses to decarbonise and accelerating Victoria’s transition to renewable energy.  
  • Identify new Business Development opportunities, engage in the market, and build a sales/tender pipeline to expand the SEC customer base. 
  • Build, contract, and manage third party intermediary relationships as a channel to market and as energy service providers to SEC’s customers. 
  • Lead and manage a sales and account management team to deliver end-to-end retail sales and contracting processes and to proactively manage customer accounts in line with SECs purpose and objectives.  
  • Working with customers and members of SECs energy markets teams, build out new renewable energy offerings and products that will provide value to Victorian C&I businesses enabling them to meet decarbonisation goals and the SEC to achieve its objectives and purpose.    
Who you are:  
Your capabilities and areas of expertise that matter most for this role are: 
  • Detailed understanding of energy retail product and pricing structures for Commercial and industrial customers and the link to wholesale energy markets. This includes understanding of the associated ASX spot and futures markets, hedging strategies, wholesale and retail risk, retail PPA contract structures. 
  • Detailed understanding of commercial and industrial customer needs and buying behaviours in particular in regard to service requirements, decarbonisation objectives, risk and behind the meter solutions.  
  • Significant experience and proven track record of success working in Business Development, sales or other related role for an Energy Retailer and ideally for the Commercial and industrial market.    
  • Knowledge of behind the meter and distributed energy solutions. 
  • An ability to think strategically and creatively to identify and scope new opportunities.  
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills. An ability to build strong relationships with customers, internal stakeholders and external partners. 
  • Alignment to the SEC ways of working and cultural behaviours, including unwavering customer focus, a drive for continuous improvement, and a proactive can-do attitude in what is a dynamic and fast-paced environment.  
Highly Desirable: 
  • Substantial experience 5+ years working in the Australian Retail Energy industry, ideally focussed on retail Commercial and Industrial or in trading or wholesale markets.  
  • Demonstrated experience leading high-performance sales and/or Account Management teams 
  • Understanding of Australian Energy Market design, regulation and compliance, and market mechanisms.  
  • Experience in distributed energy solutions such as retail demand response, RERT or wholesale demand response.  
  • Experience in scoping behind the meter solutions, virtual power plant offerings and potential operational business and commercial models associated with behind the meter solutions for large energy consumers.
