Business Development Manager 

Time Fraction:  1.0 FTE, part-time or flexible options will be considered.

Place of Work: Flexibility between working from home and co-location at one of FrontierSI’s partner organisations, preferably Perth, Brisbane or another capital city in Australia. This position is a permanent appointment within FrontierSI. 

The Opportunity 

We are seeking a dynamic, articulate and results-oriented individual to join our Business Development team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in identifying and responding to new business opportunities to drive revenue growth through strategically aligned projects. 

In this role you will leverage your experience in spatial technologies and spatial information to identify opportunities, lead bids and formulate proposals in response to RFPs, tenders or grants including developing clear scope of works, budgets, timelines, project governance and risk mitigation plans.   

You will have the support of an internal team of technical experts as well as expertise from industry and university partners to scope projects that will provide solutions to real world problems and deliver impact to society, the economy, and the environment.  You will be part of a small and influential team of passionate Business Development professionals distributed across Australia and New Zealand led by the Chief Business Officer.   

The ideal candidate will possess a strong combination of strategic thinking, relationship-building skills, and a proven track record in Business Development

Responsibilities 

The Business Development and Bid Manager will have a multifaceted role that involves identifying business opportunities, developing strategies, managing the bidding process, and securing contracts. Here are the primary responsibilities associated with this role: 

1. Identify Opportunities 

  • Identify and qualify potential leads through various channels 
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to find new business prospects. 

2. Client Relationship Management 

  • Develop and nurture strong relationships with key clients and partners. 
  • Engage with key decision-makers to promote the company’s offerings and capabilities. 

3. Bid Coordination & Proposal Development 

  • Lead the preparation and submission of high-quality proposals and bids. 
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to develop compelling proposals  
  • Ensure proposals are compliant with client requirements and industry standards. 
  • Manage the bid process from initiation to submission, ensuring deadlines are met including effective cost estimation/budgeting and development of risk mitigation plans
  • Assist sector leads with bid coordination and proposal development 

4. Closing & Contracting 

  • Negotiate and close deals and secure favourable contract terms. 

5. Provide Support to the Business Development Function  

  • Provide support to the BD Function of the business to improve efficiency through effective systems and processes. 

Essential Criteria  

To be successful in the role you need to demonstrate: 

  • A minimum of 3-5 yrs proven experience in Business Development 
  • Proven experience and success in proposal writing and bid development and management
  • Experience or sound knowledge in spatial technologies and spatial information
  • Deep understanding of one or more of the following industry sectors FrontierSI’s (Resources, Environment, Property & Planning, Government)
  • Degree or higher-level education 

Desirable Criteria  

The following would enhance your ability to perform this role and make you a more attractive candidate: 

  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment 
  • Familiarity with CRM and Business Development tools 
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in documentation and financial estimates 
  • Excellent writing skills for preparing proposals, reports, and presentations.
