About the Role
We are looking for a Business Development Manager with experience in the tourism industry, to drive new business and nurture current relationships.
Reporting to the Head of Strategic Relationships, this new position is a key sales role within the organisation.
The purpose of this role is to bring in sales from the travel trade, corporations (B2B), and educational institutions.
This is a face-to-face sales role “on the road” seeing existing and potential clients with the aim of securing business.
Workplace flexibility will be discussed with the right candidate e.g. the role can be 4 days, 4.5 days, or 5 days per week.
The role is extremely varied and interesting, you will work with some of the industry's best tourism professionals, and be instrumental in helping the business to grow.
This key position includes the following duties:
Grow business from current sales agents
- Service sales agents across your dedicated markets - Domestic/Local, Business Events, Study Tours, Education, and New Zealand
- Actively manage the current sales agent relationships with the aim to increase revenue and the number of passengers booked
- Complete product training regularly with sales agents so their product knowledge of our experiences is up to date
- Ensure sales agents have appropriate sales and promotional collateral required to sell our experiences
- Identify and manage low-yield customers and develop more profitable relationships
- Look at all cross-selling opportunities for our experiences and partners
Secure new business for the Tour Collective
- Identify and pursue potential new sales agents in your markets
- Secure new business opportunities through relationship building, the provision for product information and negotiation
- Reach out to business leads through cold calling
Build relationships
- Establish, develop and maintain positive business and customer relationships.
- Through face to face or zoom calls build long term relationships with sales agents.
- Network to build relationships and the company’s credibility
- Encourage agents and decision makers to come on famils
- Host/ Meet and greet major famils
Support the team and the business
- Note weekly sales activity in the sales strategy document and attend team meetings
- Communicate with the Operations Manager any customer service issues to be addressed
- Supply management with reports on customer needs, sales lost, and competitor activities, as well as potential for new products and services for the Tour Collective
- Handling general tasks and duties assigned by the Directors / Head of Strategic Relationships
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Proven experience as a results-focused salesperson
- Minimum 5 years in a Tourism/Travel Sales role
- Ability to be on the road and attend networking events
- Travel will be required both domestically and internationally as required
- Driver's license
- Professional presentation and great communication
- Intermediate computer skills to update CRM
This new position is based at the Main Beach head office, with regular travel across South-East Queensland.
