The Company
The business has a fantastic history stretching back over 100 years. They design and manufacturer leading edge cable management products into the Telecommunications, Road, Rail, Mining and Utilities sectors occupying niche but essential parts of Australia’s infrastructure.
Known for their high-quality products, they deal with clients such as BHP, Telstra, Optus, RailCorp along with a range of infrastructure companies providing innovative solutions to their customers.
Strong growth in recent years has seen them move into larger premises with the potential for re-establishing manufacturing here in Australia to combine with their other manufacturing sites. The team in Australia are well supported by international colleagues and facilities. The office and warehouse are based in Sydney, but this role will be based in SA, VIC or WA.
Full product and systems training is provided by highly experienced specialists, and you’ll be reporting into and mentored by the Director of Sales and Marketing who has been with the business for nearly 15 years.
The Role
Reporting into the Australian Director, this is a Business Development role of technical products that will see you getting in front of your prospects and demonstrating the leading-edge products for the projects they are working on. This is a role where you will showcase your skills as a hunter. You’ll regularly be speaking with Engineers, Project Managers, Estimators, procurement teams and the like.
Following your initial training period, you’ll have full autonomy to plan your day and tackle the market using your experience with fully flexible working options. You’ll also have the support available from the Australian and international technical teams.
Your tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Targeting relevant prospects within specific industry sectors and selling your technical products
- Warm calls, cold calls, emails, in person presentations and follow ups
- Using your technical proficiency to read and interpret specifications, preparing quotes and tenders
- Pipeline development, relationship building,
- Market mapping and market development
About You
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Previous experience in an autonomous Business Development sales position from prospecting to deal closing
- A broad range of industry contacts – those within the Rail sector very highly regarded
- Technical products experience – telecommunications construction sector, cable management products, products for outside plant or sites, mining plant applications, civil engineering products etc
- The ability to travel to clients and prospects and capacity to bring the tools of trade for customer presentations
- Clear, strong communication skills that you adapt to audiences at all levels
