The Role:

As a Business Improvement Manager, you will drive transformative continuous improvement initiatives across our company. You will lead major CI projects, optimize processes, and achieve key operational KPIs through strategic planning and organization. Your role involves conducting research to develop evaluative metrics, assessing and implementing potential projects, and monitoring ongoing performance. Additionally, you will train a team of analysts, facilitate workplace training, and promote a culture of continuous improvement with Kaizen events. By building strong relationships and leveraging new technologies, you will standardize best practices and significantly enhance our overall performance.

  • Create a balanced scorecard to evaluate performance of the Plant & Operations function, with respect to corporate goals across Safety, Quality, Animal Welfare, Environment, Performance and Staff.
  • Plan, organise, analyse, and direct business wide efforts to achieve company goals and objectives related to development, design, and improvement, with a focus on continuous enhancement of processes, systems, and performance.
  • Conduct research using appropriate tools to evaluate potential projects, including defining objectives, applications of findings, project costs, and equipment.
  • Plan and formulate projects based on research results.
  • Approve and submit proposals to management for consideration and allocation of funds.
  • Oversee and monitor projects, processes, and performance reports, and gather data for analysis; prepare reports to update management on progress.
  • Select appropriate design concepts and fundamental technology for continuous improvement projects.
  • Select, develop, train, and supervise a team; develop, train, and coach employees at all levels in continuous improvement fundamentals.
  • Recommend budgets to management, including staffing, technology, facility, and equipment requirements or improvements, and manage to budget.
  • Collaborate with operations and management to identify areas for process improvements.
  • Identify and analyse company processes to evaluate opportunities for standardising best practices across the company.
  • Ensure that projects, processes, research, and analyses are properly documented.
  • Lead and facilitate Kaizen training events to develop more leaders, utilising problem-solving tools and methodologies.
  • Build relationships across the company to support continuous improvement efforts and with external vendors to identify emerging technologies and warehouse automation projects.
  • Review operations and plans to meet sales planning requirements and ascertain engineering needs for new market development.
  • Expand understanding of company operations.

About you:

  • 10+ years progressive experience as an Industrial Engineer or Industrial Engineer Manager.
  • Experience in personnel management, distribution operations, creating work instructions, auditing, quality management systems, Kaizen, Lean, and Six Sigma.
  • Experience in strategic planning, organizing, and directing engineering efforts towards achieving company goals and objectives, emphasizing continuous process improvement.
  • Strong research and analytical skills to evaluate projects, justify expenditures, and formulate effective proposals.
  • Effective leadership abilities to build and supervise high-performing teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills to obtain management approval and funding for projects.
  • Proficiency in project oversight, data analysis, and reporting to ensure successful project implementation.
  • Collaborative mindset to identify process improvement opportunities and standardize best practices.
  • Continuous learning orientation to stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies.
