Job description

Position InformationThe NSW Department of Education serves the community by leading the provision of world-class education. The Department protects young children by regulating preschool and long day care providers. Once children move into school, we provide them with a world-class primary and secondary education. We also work to advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal people.    About the Role 

 

The Business Manager 1 works with the school principal and school executive in undertaking the management of the school’s business functions including administration, asset management, procurement, finance and work health and safety.

May be required to supervise and lead the school administrative team and supervise non-teaching staff. Additionally may be required to manage the work of contractors from time to time.

  • Working with Children Check Clearance
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal Education and Training policy. 

Selection Criteria
  1. Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and work effectively as part of a team.
  2. Demonstrated ability to undertake and manage financial and accounting functions including the use of computerised financial /administrative systems.
  3. Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  4. Ability to interact with school staff, students and members of the school community.

Coolah Central School caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 12. The school has a student population of 173 including 44 students who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and are supported by equity programs. Coolah Central School is located in the upper Central West Region 1 hour from Mudgee, 90 minutes from Dubbo and 3 ½ hours from Newcastle. It is part of the Warrumbungle Shire. The school's mission statement states that "Coolah Central School, in partnership with the community, promotes excellence by challenging and supporting individuals to create their future, in a secure and caring environment.” The school is well resourced with the library, computer rooms and music room recently undergoing significant refurbishment and the construction of a new Industrial Arts Trade Training Centre complementing the existing Hospitality Trade Training Facilities. The dedicated and professional staff are supported by an active P&C in catering for the diverse learning and welfare needs of the student body.
