We are a Far North Queensland based business working predominately in the mining and heavy earthmoving workshop industries. You will be traveling to clients throughout Queensland and Northern New South Wales where you will carry out inspections, calibrations, and repairs on highly specialised equipment. POSITION DESCRIPTION – CALIBRATION TECHNICIAN – TORC TIGHT QLD
Calibration Technicians are responsible for the calibration, routine inspection, testing, maintenance and repair of instruments, meters, gauges and other testing and measuring equipment. This is done by monitoring and servicing systems, diagnosing problems and troubleshooting equipment, running tests and completing reports.
We are searching for a detail-orientated Calibration Technician to join our technical staff. In this role, you will be traveling to clients where you will carry out inspections, calibrations, and repairs on highly specialized equipment. You will also be responsible for identifying faulty equipment and suggesting upgrades when necessary.
The goal of a Calibration Technician is to ensure the accuracy and precision of the measurements of the equipment being tested.
Salary/Wages
Workers are paid under the ‘Business Equipment Award 2020’ However, above award wages are offered.
Professional Development and on the job training will be provided as required.
ROLE
Our Calibration Technicians monitor, test, calibrate, and repair instrumentation and equipment. Working predominantly in the mining and heavy earth moving workshop industries where they ensure workshop tooling is regularly serviced and calibrated to industry standards.
To be successful as a Calibration Technician, you should have a good eye for detail, excellent hand-eye coordination, and above-average troubleshooting skills. Ultimately a top-class Calibration Technician will work quickly and methodically to ensure equipment is safe for operation and calibrated to the industry standards.
Mandatory Requirements:
The successful applicant will need to:
- Have or the ability to get a truck driver’s licence – HR Class;
- Be willing to travel extensively throughout the state of Queensland and Northern New South Wales;
- Be prepared to work away from home for extended periods of time;
- Undergo regular mandatory medical tests, drug and alcohol screenings and other tests required by the mining industry;
- Undertake regular site inductions – both on-line and onsite as well a Standard 11 course;
- Have a mechanical background.
RESPONSIBILITES
Calibration Technician Responsibilities:
- Travel to clients for tooling inspections.
- Perform routine tooling maintenance.
- Calibrate tooling to industry standards.
- Troubleshoot tooling failures.
- Carryout equipment repairs.
- Maintain calibration equipment and supplies
- Record and maintain tool testing results.

- You must have full working rights within Australia;
- Experience with the testing and repair of electronic instruments - Focus on mining tools and equipment is beneficial;
- Competent computer proficiency;
- Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment;
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills;

- Demonstrate organisation, time management skills and maintain a safe workspace;
- Superb attention to detail;
- Proficient English.
