We are one of Australia’s largest and most experienced Carbon Farming Project developers. This includes more than 160 projects with farmers, plantation managers, agribusiness, and Indigenous groups on Carbon Farming Projects.

Climate Friendly has delivered over 20Mt in carbon abatement as at the end of 2020. Our immediate mission is to establish partnerships, by 2025, that will store or reduce 150Mt of CO2-e, while repairing nature and supporting reconciliation. The role

As Project Officer, you will work in a small team to drive project management & client engagement outcomes for existing and new Carbon Farming Projects. A primary aspect of the role includes providing support and education to clients to ensure projects are implemented in line with best practice and incorporate continuous improvement. The role also involves fieldwork to support implementation of projects, including assessing on-ground condition and supporting the development of farm management and permanence plans.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining positive and productive working relationships with clients, and a variety of other relevant stakeholders
  • Traveling to client sites as necessary to engage land managers and undertake thorough assessment of project management milestones.
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of Land Management Strategies across client projects
  • Engaging with clients for best practice project implementation
  • Reporting to clients on project tracking and preparing and delivering progress updates
  • Tailoring services to meet the objectives of our Portfolio Partners
  • Supporting the assessment of existing and new projects for opportunities under relevant carbon project methodologies
  • Assisting clients prepare for transitioning their projects to IFLM where viable.
  • Coordinating solutions for client problems through investigating issues, evaluating options, elevating internally where required, and communicating solutions.
  • Gathering evidence of land management activities to support development of farm management plans and other specific documents to maintain current projects and register any prospective new carbon projects.
  • Collating data for project registration, project audit and continued project management.
  • Supporting project registrations and project audits
  • Maintaining records in our customer relationship management system
  • Creating and updating projects in client project management tool, Asana.
  • Completing basic/intermediate QGIS mapping tasks as necessary.
  • Gaining and maintaining Authorised Representative status under our AFSL, including meeting all ongoing requirements this involves

About you

  • Qualifications/lived experience in fields related to Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Forestry, Ecology or Agriculture.
  • Experience in a rural or land restoration role, for example tree planting, bush regeneration and weed management.
  • Experience in customer engagement and excellent interpersonal skills across a range of land managers.
  • Enthusiasm for client support,
  • Good phone manner, and willingness to call land managers to discuss carbon and nature repair opportunities.
  • Comfort with Microsoft suite, CRM systems and ideally basic skills in mapping systems like QGIS and/or willingness and capacity to quickly upskill in this space.
  • Ability to adapt to follow processes and adapt to change
  • Capacity to travel for fieldwork on a regular basis (1 week a month as a guide) and experience working/travelling in isolated areas using a 4WD.
  • Interest in/previous experience with Emissions Reduction Fund/Carbon Farming
  • You will be required to become an authorised representative under Climate Friendly’s Australian Financial Service License and undertake mandatory financial training each year.
