This newly created role will work very closely with local DoC's staff, and provide guidance and support to our registered carers so that children who are in the care of the CEO experience loving and nurturing foster care placements. A key aspect of this role is working with the community to identify families who may wish to become foster carers, and then to support those families to complete an assessment of their capacity to meet 6 carer competencies.

We are looking for a committed person who has experience with delivering Out Of Home Care services, who is able to provide case managed support to children and families who may have high and complex needs. To be successful in this role you will be required to have an understanding of the impacts of inter-generational trauma, high level computer skills; the capacity to build professional rapport with people from diverse cultural backgrounds; effective oral and written communication skills; the ability to work as part of a team; and, the capacity to work with people with significant trauma issues; complex social and emotional needs, and at times challenging behaviors.

Centacare is a growing organisation that has a strong local workforce. We are offering an attractive salary, along with access to an accommodation allowance, 5 weeks annual leave, a range of salary sacrificing benefits, and 11% Superannuation.  The hours of employment are 38 hours per week which can include overnight travel across the West Kimberley region.

To apply you must provide a current Resume through the Seek website, 2 Referees, and a written response to the following Selection Criteria.

ESSENTIAL:

  • Experience work with children, young people and families within a Out Of Home Care setting.
  • Ability to work in collaborative partnerships with State Government agencies.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal people from across the Kimberley region, especially within a remote setting.

  • Demonstrated capacity to provide structured case managed support, and the ability to keep relevant case notes and record service information.
  • Ability to positively work as a team member.
  • Experience working within program guidelines and organisational policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to use a computer and the Microsoft group of programs.
