About us
Legal Aid NSW helps people with their legal problems. We can help people with most areas criminal law, family law and every day civil law legal issues. We give legal advice, help at court and do family dispute resolution. We can do this over the telephone or at one of our 28 offices.
About the role
Caseworkers in Family Law teams work collaboratively with solicitors and provide trauma-informed services to vulnerable clients who are going through family law and/or care and protection proceedings.
The primary purpose of this role is to:
- provide case management support to clients with complex socio-legal needs including referral assistance, risk assessment, safety planning, support in attending Court as well as other services.
- support clients to participate in their legal matter.
- use your clinical expertise to support service provision to clients with complex socio-legal needs.
About you
We are looking for experienced, passionate, and committed Case Workers. You will have proven experience or capability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients. You will be willing to work in a holistic and collaborative way with lawyers and paralegals to support the needs of our clients.
We will use this recruitment to create a statewide talent pool for similar ongoing or temporary vacancies we have over the next 18 months.

The essential requirements for this role
You must:
- Have 5 years minimum relevant experience
- Have Diploma Level 5 and above (minimum 2 years study) in a relevant area of study
- be willing to do a Criminal Record Check and/or Working with Children Check
- hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing vacancies) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies)

The Family Law Division have a number of roles where it is a statutory obligation for staff to hold a valid Working With Children Check. You will be required to provide your Working With Children Check details prior to commencement in any role requiring the check.
