About the role
We have full and part time Case Worker positions across the following programs:
Immediate Housing Relief for Families
The Immediate Housing Response for Families (IHRF) program is in response to the unprecedented challenges in housing affordability and the private rental market. IHRF is for Queensland families experiencing or at risk of homelessness, who are living in unsuitable accommodation including sleeping in their cars and in tents. The purpose of the program is to deliver an immediate accommodation response to assist families in temporary and short-term accommodation, to transition to longer-term housing. (Office and Community Based).
Homelessness HUB
The Homelessness Services Hub provides planned, time-limited and solution focussed support to individuals and families who are home or at risk of homelessness. We work collaboratively with specialist and mainstream services in the Townsville area to make a significant and meaningful impact on ending homelessness together. (Office Based)
Services include.
- Initial assessment and response to immediate needs
- Accommodation assistance and advocacy
- Risk and safety planning
- Advocacy and assistance to access housing and specialist services
- Support to access mainstream services
Homestay
The Red Cross Homestay Program is an early intervention service that provides case management, advocacy, and referral support to individual and families who are currently housed, but at risk of homelessness. Homestay works alongside people to prevent them from becoming homeless and to assist them to sustain new or existing tenancy. Homestay provides intensive support and works within a strengths-based model to assist individuals in meeting their goals and addressing the barriers they face. (Office and Community Based)
Street to Home
The Street to Home and Afterhours Outreach Programs support people who are sleeping rough or experiencing chronic homelessness in the Townsville area, to move into stable long-term housing. The program is based on a case management model to help clients to make long term life-style changes so they can successfully participate in the community life, education, and employment where appropriate. In this role, you will provide mobile, outreach and centre-based case management support to individuals and families experiencing vulnerabilities in Townsville. You will operate from a strength based and capacity building framework to ensure the promotion of social inclusion, human rights, participation and consumer choice. (Office and Community Based).
What you will bring
- Sound casework/ case management experience including holistic assessment of client needs and development of case plans
- Demonstrated ability to work directly with clients at risk of homelessness who have complex needs
- Experience in working competently with staff and clients from cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds with respect and humility
- Well-developed interpersonal and written communication skills
- Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
