We are currently seeking a highly experienced and skilled Case Worker to support offenders transition from custody to community as part of arbias’ Initial Transitional Support (ITS) Service for a 6-month fixed term contract.
You will report to the Client Services Manager NSW and be accountable to the local Manager Community Corrections and other nominated CSNSW staff.

About the Initial Transitional Support (ITS) Service:
The service aims to deliver evidenced-based interventions targeting the risk of re offending and supporting the period of transition from custody to community. ITS is directly linked to an offender’s case plan and provides up to 12 weeks post-release Support Services. ITS service providers assist to connect participants with mainstream community services that address the person’s criminogenic needs to increase their capacity to successfully reintegrate back into the community.
ITS targets higher risk offenders who are being, or have recently been, released from custody and are subject to supervision by Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) in the community. This group of offenders experience many barriers to reintegration following release from custody, including (but not limited to): housing availability and affordability; alcohol and other drug dependencies, access to mental health services, education and employment opportunities. ITS assists offenders remain in stable housing, reduce their risk of re- offending and access Support Services and programs that directly address these risks.
Key responsibilities:
- Responsible for the day-to-day service provision of the ITS program, ensuring the highest quality evidence-informed support for program participants.
- Support the implementation of high-quality post-release Support Services,
- Deliver innovative intervention services that support reintegration back to the community following release from custody,
- Deliver targeted interventions that support CSNSW’s offender case management, including provision of outreach support to ensure sustainable community reintegration and Transitional Support,
- Improve the immediate transition period following release by assisting offenders address a wide range of issues directly linked to their case plan and related to their offending behaviour (criminogenic needs),
- Provide evidence-informed, strengths-based case coordination interventions to address clients’ criminogenic needs,
- Work within the principles of Risk, Needs, Responsivity,
- Provide a culturally safe, sensitive and appropriate service for all program clients,
- Establish links with mainstream and specialist services/programs to enhance clients’ access to services, address identified risk factors and increase capacity to engage in community life,
- Facilitate access to culturally and gender-appropriate services and opportunities,
- Collaborate with Community Corrections staff to enhance program outcomes, improve program participation and completion rates, and support order completion rates,
- Ensure that identified contractual KPI’s are met.
