Casual Hourly Rate: Casual HEW 4 $46.55 per hour + 11% superannuation (Pay rate applicable 1 July 2024)Employment Type: CasualLocation: Melbourne Burwood CampusAbout the role:You will provide reception, administration and resident support for Deakin Residential Services. This includes high-quality customer service to the current and future residents, families, University staff and external contractors. The position acts as a point of contact for residents and provides information as part of the community life of the residential complex, or referral to an appropriate service. It also assists with the organisation and implementation of academic, social, cultural and sporting events/activities that facilitate a living and learning community.To be successful you'll have:
- Proven successful ability to deliver high-quality customer service with experience in shift work.
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently and effectively within a team environment.
- High level administrative skills including the ability to plan, time manage and complete tasks.
- High verbal and written communication skills, including need for confidentiality.
- High interpersonal skills including the ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds, and particularly young people.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure.
- High level computer literacy with knowledge of the Microsoft suite and ability to learn new packages
- This role requires the incumbent to apply for and maintain a Working With Children Check (refer to Deakin's Recruitment Procedure for further details).
- Provide exceptional customer service to current and future residents, families, University staff and external contractors face to face, over the phone or via email.
- Assist with general administration and reception duties which will include maintaining the resident housing management system.
- First point of contact for any after-hours student interaction to assist in a professional manner or to refer them to the relevant personnel or information source.
- Assist with general maintenance issues as required.
- Be equipped to professional respond to any emergency situations, this may include acting as the Chief Fire Warden or First Aid Officer.
- Coordinate bookings and delivery of services for short term accommodation customers.
- Support other Deakin Residential Services areas as required.
- Any other duties as directed, commensurate with the scope and classification of the position.
