Casual Receptionist

We are looking for a part-time or Casual Receptionist who can commence work immediately, to take between two and four shifts a week of up to five hours each. 

We are a psychology practice located in Carlton Melbourne, approximately an 8-minute walk from Melbourne Central Train Station and close to The University of Melbourne and RMIT. 

We have 28 psychologists and provisional psychologists, working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families and other groups.

• You will be responsible for welcoming clients to the practice.
• Answering the telephone
• Making, rescheduling and cancelling appointments
• Taking payments, and following up on payments either online via a messaging system or by calling the client directly 
• Answering email enquiries and emails from the practitioners. 
• You will need to become efficient and comfortable with assigning new clients to practitioners including having basic understanding of psychodiagnoses. 
• You need capacity to be focused and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. 

There are further office duties such as:

• Keeping the kitchens of both buildings clean. 
• Ensuring there is milk, tea and biscuits available for practitioners.
• Watering plants in both buildings. 
• Emptying the bins in the various offices. 
• Ensuring heating and air-conditioners have been switched off at the end of the day and locking both buildings if you have the last shift. 

• You must be able to politely and confidently make phone calls and communicate with both practitioners and clients. 
• You must have prior psychology or medical reception experience, be willing to learn new systems and adapt to our working environment. 
• You must be able to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. 
• Have a Police Check
• Have a Working with Children Check 

The successful candidate must be efficient and reliable, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. They will be reliable and able to work independently. 

Candidates with prior knowledge of the online system, PowerDiary will be highly valued, as will candidates with any psychology knowledge.
