We are currently recruiting for a Category Manager with a strong focus on working collaboratively with business stakeholders to enable the delivery of Intium's objectives and ensure the alignment of procurement strategy and resources. This role can be based anywhere within Essential Energy's operational footprint, with some flexibility to work from home.
About the role
The Category Manager will be part of the Procurement Shared Services team and will provide procurement leadership and strategic support to Intium. This includes:
- Major projects demand and service delivery options planning.
- Leading business critical and strategic procurements.
- Identifying and implementing cost and value improvement programs within the Intium supply chain.
- Contributing to the development of a supplier base capable of fulfilling Intium's needs.
- Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) with critical and strategic suppliers.
- Supply market analysis, risk identification and management, and
- Implementing supply-side business initiatives such as Sustainability, Modern Slavery Compliance, and promoting Indigenous and Regional spend with Intium's supplier base.
About You
The successful candidate will have demonstrable commercial and procurement experience, preferably within a major and complex projects environment, and a proven track record of developing and managing business relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You will be adept at working through the various stages of major projects lifecycles. Whilst focussed on understanding the needs and objectives of Intium you can employ your influencing skills to shape procurement strategy and provide guidance and support to ensure the delivery of the desired outcomes.
A seasoned negotiator you know how to secure advantageous outcomes from suppliers, work collaboratively with strategic and critical suppliers to uncover innovation opportunities and deliver value and competitive advantage for Intium, all while prioritising quality and service standards. You understand the importance of supply chain risk management in the modern business environment and an appreciation for the role that procurement must play in meeting corporate sustainability objectives.
Working in a dynamic team environment you will enjoy the autonomy of managing assigned major procurement activities which will include the acquisition of major complex goods and services, including construction, to achieve delivery of Intium's clients' projects.

Required Qualifications
- Degree in Business Management, Commerce, Procurement and Logistics or Supply Chain or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications.
Desirable:
- Member, Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS)
