The role:
The Catering and Services Manager will work closely with venue management and stakeholders in achieving improved commercial and operational performance of Stadiums Queensland (SQ)’s Catering business and cleaning and waste services. The role is required to provide high level management support to SQ’s catering contractors and venues to deliver outstanding food and beverage services, whilst maximising both operational and commercial outcomes across SQ’s venue portfolio. The role is also required to support venue personnel responsible for the contract management and operational delivery of catering, cleaning and waste operations at all venues to ensure the highest standard of performance, quality control, hygiene and sustainability are achieved at the best value for money. In conjunction with the Venue General Managers, the position provides high level management support in the procurement, contract establishment, performance management, sustainability and risk management for catering, cleaning and waste contracts.
The Catering and Services Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of a 5-year Catering Strategy in close consultation with Executive Management.
Key tasks:
- Develop, implement and oversee an organisation wide catering strategic approach that seeks to maximise commercial outcomes, performance, quality and variety whilst contributing to improved customer service, stakeholder relationships and risk management outcomes.
- In consultation and collaboration with Venue General Managers, lead the management, development, review, implementation, procurement, contracting, compliance and audit processes for catering service contracts with a view to maximising performance, revenue and customer service and satisfaction.
- Research and analysis of local and national markets to assess and identify opportunities across the organisation that meet hirer needs and optimise operational and commercial outcomes.
- Provide high level contract management and procurement support for cleaning and waste service contracts across the organisation with a view to maximising venue presentation, cleanliness and customer satisfaction and minimising waste.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, applying a high level of communication and interpersonal skills.
About you:
- Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in business service management, contract management or venue operations within a relevant venue operations, events or entertainment environment or other relevant discipline.
- Minimum 5 years high level management experience in the operation of large stadia or arenas, including catering services, operations, contractual management and performance management delivery.
- High level experience in service based contract management (E.g. cleaning, waste, catering, hygiene).
- Demonstrated credentials in sustainability related to large venue catering, cleaning and waste operations.
- Highly developed leadership skills with demonstrated ability to engage, influence and motivate people at all levels.
- Strong customer service focus with demonstrated experience in all aspects of food service management with a proven track record of success.
- Ability to develop and maintain systems and best practice business processes.
