SalarySnowy Aero Engineering has two positions available, one for a Chief Engineer and one for a contract or full time LAME for immediate start (or as soon as practical).
Snowy Aero Engineering (SAE) is a sister company to Heli Surveys and is responsible for maintaining its fleet of AS350 helicopters, and occasionally cross-hired machines. The aircraft are all utility helicopters that operate Australia-wide, with the main base in Jindabyne NSW. The role requires travel, flexibility, and long hours when necessary. This flexibility works both ways, and staff who enjoy the outdoors (skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, fishing, hiking, kayaking, etc.) are encouraged to take time off when possible, including during quieter periods/days (in addition to rostered time off).

The Chief Engineer position is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to make the move to this position and management. The current Chief Engineer will remain in the company long term, but is wanting to be more “on the tools”. This will allow him to mentor the new Chief Engineer (as required) into this position and provide support and background on the fleet. As a company that only looks after its own aircraft, there are not multiple clients to deal with, or many staff to manage. For someone ready to transition into a management role, this is a great opportunity.
SAE offers a competitive salary package based on the candidate's ability and experience. Accommodation and travel will be provided for touring engineers or fixed-base engineers when travelling. The ideal candidate(s) will be based full-time in Jindabyne, NSW, with travel to Albury NSW required for heavy maintenance. SAE is open to the idea of a touring position for the right person and encourages those who are not looking to move to Jindabyne or Albury to still apply.
Chief Engineer
The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of aircraft airworthiness, including planning and managing fleet maintenance, parts procurement and regulatory requirements. The role requires knowledge and experience on AS350 helicopters, and Aerotrack software experience is desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the SAE workplace and personnel
- Ensure all aircraft are maintained to a high standard of airworthiness.
- Use Aerotrack software to manage the maintenance and compliance of the aircraft.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Liaise with operations management, pilots, and other staff to ensure smooth transition between the flightline and maintenance.
- Provide technical support and guidance to other staff as required
Requirements:
- Strong leadership qualities
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Aircraft Maintenance, preferably with AS350 helicopters or similar
- Licensed B1.3
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- Flexibility in work schedule/hours/work location
Contract / Full time LAME
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the aircraft and ensuring they are airworthy at all times. The role requires experience with AS350 helicopters or similar.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain the aircraft to a high standard of airworthiness
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Liaise with management, pilots, and other staff to ensure mooth operations
- Provide technical support and guidance to other staff as required
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Aircraft Maintenance, preferably with AS350 helicopters or similar
- Licensed B1.3
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
