Community First Step is a community-based, not-for-profit organisation that has provided Children, Youth and Family Services for over 40 years. Based in Fairfield they serve one of the most multi-cultural, vibrant communities in NSW through case work, community development, a youth centre, disability services, childcare, playgroups, and emergency relief programs. With a diverse team of 85 staff and volunteers they work with the community to overcome disadvantage and build capacity.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) needs to be a game changer – able to connect with the local communities and develop innovative solutions to systemic problems, that will lift people out of poverty and improve their quality of life.
Work closely with the Board of Directors and be accountable for articulating and implementing the strategic plan resulting in sustained growth, operational excellence, quality service provision and compliance. The CEO must balance community, political and commercial outcomes in accordance with the organisation’s purpose and values.
The CEO will need to be a proven allrounder – strong on: leadership; stakeholder management; strategic planning but hands-on and agile; financial management. Plus, you must be sensitive to the needs of the multicultural community. Candidates must understand corporate governance and have prior experience of board reporting
