The Company

Our client is a global technology organisation that is listed in the US who have recently established a subsidiary in Melbourne that will oversee its Australian operations. They are currently developing a technology for one significant client with a go-live date in the coming years. The local turnover is estimated to be around $200M. Due to this significant expansion, they now require a talented and qualified CFO.

The Role

Reporting to the CEO, your day-to-day responsibilities will range from setting up local processes to conducting financial reporting and ensuring accurate record-keeping whilst working together with their shared service centre in the Philippines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Financial Strategy: Develop, implement and monitor the overall financial strategy of the company to ensure long-term financial stability.
  • Financial Reporting: Monthly and Yearly Financial Reporting. Prepare and present accurate monthly and yearly financial reports in accordance with AIFRS.
  • Communication with Head office: Communicate status updates with the US and liaise with a subsidiary in Europe that is crucial for the development of the product.
  • Client Management: Actively participate in conversations related to finance & commercial matters. This business has one large, demanding client that requires proactive relationship management.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Provide financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting.
  • Collaboration with Overseas Shared Service Centre: Work closely with the overseas shared service centre, as well as effective communication and coordination between the local and overseas finance teams and try to operate efficiently in a bureaucratic environment.
  • Tax-Related Matters: Oversee all tax-related matters, including, transfer pricing, tax planning, compliance, and reporting.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and laws, as well as the company's internal policies and procedures.
  • Cash Flow Management
  • Risk Management: Develop and implement risk management strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks.
  • Stakeholder Management: Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, lenders, and regulators.
  • Team Management: Providing leadership and direction to the finance & commercial team, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Audit: Manage financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements.

Key Selection Criteria

  • A CA or CPA qualification is essential.
  • A background with the Big 4 or a Public Practice accounting firm.
  • Proven experience in high growth environments.
  • Commercial acumen and an ability to be involved in strategic conversations with the client.
  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in finance, accounting, or related field, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Experience having worked within in a subsidiary for a listed, multinational organisation is desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Strong technical skills in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis. Knowledge of transfer pricing, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. The ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to senior management and other stakeholders is essential.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and analyse financial trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Technology Skills: Proficiency in financial management software, such as JDE and Hyperion, or similar platforms.
  • Team Player: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other departments and functions to achieve business objectives.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

This role is a temporary, daily rate contract with the intention to go permanent. Candidates with a notice period of 4 weeks or longer cannot be considered. The organisation strongly an immediate start.
