The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) promotes profitable agriculture, fisheries and forestry industries in Queensland. The department employs over 2000 people in policy development, leading-edge science, biosecurity, fisheries, forestry management, trade, and export.

About the role and you
As the Chief Information Officer (CIO), we are looking for an executive leader to provide technology thought leadership under a shared services partnership model (referred to as ‘the Partnership’). Information Technology Partners (ITP) is hosted within the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) and provides ICT and Information Management support across multiple Queensland Government agencies. The CIO provides high-level advice to the ITP Strategic Governance Board (attended by the Heads of Corporate of the five departments) on the development of the ITP strategic and business plans, information frameworks, the health of the Partnership, and other performance outcome indicators.
The CIO will represent the department in significant national and state-wide forums, promoting a positive and accountable public image and ensuring effective negotiation on policy issues. Therefore, we are looking for a leader with exceptional influencing skills and an innovative mindset.
You will lead the department's digital and data strategy and maintain high-level industry networks. You will identify and explore trends and innovation opportunities and influence third-party service and product directions.
With a proven track record in managing technology service delivery, incident management, technology infrastructure, and continuous improvement, you will have an in-depth understanding of product management principles and methodologies.
This is a significant technology leadership position with a diverse customer group. We’re looking for a passionate leader who operates with a solution-focused approach, collaboration, influence, and empathy.
A degree in Computer science, Information Technology, or a related field with post graduate qualifications is highly regarded.
