Reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor & President, the Chief of Staff is a key executive position to provide expert support in relation to planning, decision-making, project management, and the execution of initiatives which support the impactful delivery of RMIT’s strategic goals.The role will develop and drive strategic initiatives which require an integrated approach across the university and with external partners. It will also be responsible for the oversight of initiatives for the Vice- Chancellor & President and, working closely with RMIT’s senior leadership team, creating a culture of achievement, and ensuring a collaborative culture which drives outcomes in the best interests of RMIT. - Prior experience in a similar executive position within the tertiary or government sectors.
- The ability to negotiate and build productive working relationships with key stakeholders.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking and experience in developing and delivering strategic outcomes.
- Outstanding organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to critically evaluate and analyse complex information and data.
- Demonstrated strong understanding of effective governance processes and structures.
- Excellent and persuasive skills in the preparation of complex papers and reports and in a range of style and formats.
- Demonstrated facilitation, partnering and negotiation skills with the proven ability to operate effectively under pressure, including adjusting style and approach to optimise outcomes.
- Extensive experience leading, project managing and delivering the design, development and communication of strategic programs and initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities and areas for improvement and initiate, lead and implement administrative and process reviews to achieve efficiency and service improvements.
- Highly developed people management and leadership skills.
