The role

Working within the Cancer Prevention & Research Division, reporting to the Make Smoking History Manager, the Clear the Air Senior Coordinator will be responsible for the development, delivery, and evaluation of a comprehensive community-based program of work with the aim to address e-cigarette use (vaping) in children and young people in Western Australia.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive community-based program of work to reduce e-cigarette use (vaping) in children and young people in WA.
  • Ensuring a coordinated, evidence-based policy approach to e-cigarette use/vaping in WA.
  • Ensuring all communications related to e-cigarette use and vaping – including training content, resources, media releases and website content are fact-checked and in-line with language guides.
  • Supervising the workflow and supporting the professional growth of the Clear the Air Community Engagement Coordinator/s.
  • Providing support to internal stakeholders undertaking work in this space.
  • Proactively developing and managing internal and external key stakeholder relationships, including peak bodies.
  • Representing Cancer Council WA at appropriate meetings, seminars, and other events.
  • Collaborating with Clear the Air and Make Smoking History staff to plan and implement professional development and capacity building events for stakeholders.

About you
To be successful in this role you will need:

  • A tertiary qualification in health promotion, behavioural/social science or relevant discipline with minimum 5 years industry experience.
  • Experience in development and delivery of public health programs or campaigns and/or community and health service-based programs.
  • Experience in building and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to influence others to achieve beneficial outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge and understanding of tobacco control issues and methods is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and report writing.
  • Strong skills in interpreting scientific literature.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the values of Cancer Council WA.
  • Positive approach to the workplace
