About the role
The Operations Coordinator will report to the Operations Director and have responsibility for leading and coordinating a team of House Supervisors and Support Workers in the provision of high-quality services to children and young people in residential out of home care. Additionally, the Operations Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination of a range of activities associated with Targeted Care Package’s (TCP’s).
This role is a 12-month fixed term contract (parental leave backfill).
The role supports children and young people in the West and North of Melbourne. It is a requirement of the role that the Operations Coordinator will regularly travel to Ability Assist residences.

Key responsibilities include
- Provide day to day leadership to House Supervisors.
- Ensure that Ability Assist provides a high-quality service to clients.
- Provide intensive case management support to children and young people.
- Coordinator a range of activities associated with Targeted Care Package (TCP’s).
- Grow and develop Ability Assist’s TCP service offering.
- Liaise with Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) or the NDIS in relation to Ability Assist clients.
- Ensure that the relevant statutory requirements, legislative and regulatory obligations are adhered to and that services delivered are compliant.
About you
- Demonstrated experience in child protection, child welfare practice or a related field.
- Previous experience in managing the delivery of residential out of home care services.
- Previous case management experience.
- Previous experience with Targeted Care Packages (TCP’s).
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families.
- An excellent communicator, expert listener and empathetic, who is able to guide, support and mentor.
- Organised, time management skills are great and taking initiative is second nature for you.
- The ability to be resilient, flexible, and adaptable in a constantly changing fast paced environment.
- Ability to work well both autonomously and with a team.
To be successful you will have
- A Bachelor degree in Social work or equivalent, or significant work experience in a relevant field plus a relevant qualification in Youth Work, Welfare Work, Community Services or equivalent.
- Compliance with minimum qualification requirements for Residential Care Workers in Victoria, including completion of the mandatory units of competency.
- Victorian Drivers’ Licence.
- Employee Working with Children Check; (or willingness to obtain).
- NDIS Worker Screening check (or willingness to obtain).
- Right to work in Australia.
- Current First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain)
