Clinical Manager, Acute Care Team, (ACT) Community Mental Health - Eastern Suburbs Mental Health Service

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Mental Health clinician and leader to work in the role of Clinical Manager for the Eastern Suburbs Acute Care Team (ACT). Supported by the Community Service Manager, the Clinical Manger will lead the ACT and Police and Ambulance Clinical Emergency Response (PACER) team to provide short-term Mental Health interventions to people experiencing acute episodes of Mental Health distress or illness.
The Clinical Manager will provide leadership, guidance, supervision and line management of the multidisciplinary Community Mental Health team. The role requires a high degree of both clinical and professional judgement to navigate critical challenges with minimal direction.

The ACT Clinical Manager will provide operational direction, lead, guide and manage the Acute Care Team service across Eastern Suburbs Community Mental Health. The ACT Clinical manager will facilitate the implementation of high levels of clinical expertise in order to provide high quality care to clients and their carers consistent with the NSW Ministry of Health (MOH) and SESLHD policies, procedures and standards. The position supports the Adult Community Mental Health Service Manager in the management of the Acute Care Team and is responsible for implementing a quality
framework for the planning, delivery and evaluation of services provided by the team.
They will provide high quality evidence based clinical services including assessment, care co-ordination, intervention, liaison and review as part of a multidisciplinary team for adults referred to the service with a mental illness or disorder. These interventions will be based on an appropriate model of practice as specified by the individual's professional background, skills, and experience and will be informed by evidence-based treatment guidelines.
If you are an overseas qualified Social Worker, you are required to have your qualifications assessed by the AASW to meet the position criteria.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Selection Criteria: * Social Worker or Occupational Therapist qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award Current full registration with AHPRA and/or eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer. Registered Nurse/Midwife with current unrestricted registration with AHPRA and meet the requirement for NUM 2 grading under the NSW Public Health System Nurses' and Midwives' State Award.

  • Evidence of extensive clinical experience in Mental Health including the assessment, treatment and management of persons with a mental illness in a community setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills including the ability to manage performance, lead change, and provide high level guidance and advice on service matters.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the principles and practices of consumer and family participation within a recovery framework.
  • Understanding of and commitment to quality improvement processes and the application of evidence based practice within Mental Health.
  • Current NSW Driver's Licence and a willingness to travel to meet job requirements.
  • Understanding of clinical and professional support requirements for multidisciplinary team members and commitment to supporting team access to same.
