Form of workA fantastic chance awaits a Level 2 Lactation Consultant on a part-time basis, 18 hours a week to support patients in the Maternity Ward at a private hospital located on the Gold Coast.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Lactation Consultant, your responsibilities will include the following:
- Providing expert lactation consultation and support to new mothers during their hospital stay.
- Conducting thorough assessments to identify breastfeeding challenges and develop individualized care plans.
- Offering education and guidance on breastfeeding techniques, positioning, and infant feeding cues.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive care for mother-infant.
- Educating and empowering nursing staff and other healthcare professionals on evidence-based breastfeeding practices.
- Maintaining accurate documentation of lactation consultations and outcomes.
REQUIREMENTS
- Certified Lactation Consultant;
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field preferred;
- At least 5 years of experience in lactation consultation within a hospital setting;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach;
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with diverse teams;
- Commitment to continuing education and staying updated on current practices in lactation support.
