• This role is to develop, lead and deliver patient centred nursing care within a dynamic Emergency environment at an advanced level based on the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council Standards for Registered Nurses.

About the role
The Paediatric Clinical Nurse is a registered nurse who is accountable for practice at an advanced level, working collaboratively within the Emergency Department and with other members of the health care team including consumers/carers, other health professionals, general practitioners, and other agencies (including non-Government agencies). This role provides the delivery of clinical care and support specific to the Paediatric Emergency Department.
The Clinical Nurse
- Practices autonomously.
- Provides leadership in clinical decision making to give and/or coordinate care.
- Assumes responsibility for professional leadership for the unit in the absence of the Nurse Grade 7/Team Leader; and
- Applies critical thinking across all the domains of clinical practice.

About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge in the area of Paediatrics delivering expert nursing care in complex situations while providing support and direction to other team members.
- Demonstrated ability to role model excellent standards of comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care and documentation to facilitate quality patient outcomes, in accordance with National Safety and Quality Health Service and professional standards which impact on nursing practice.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and maintain a positive workplace culture through role-modelling well developed consultation, liaison, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, engaging professionally with members of the healthcare team, patients, relatives and visitors.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate staff and manage delegated resources including prioritising needs and supporting day-to-day changes.
- Provide leadership to effectively plan, manage and evaluate health services and patient flows to achieve organisational goals including an understanding of the national emergency access target (NEAT).
