The Graduate School of Medicine (GSM) aims to graduate excellent medical practitioners with a commitment to patient-centred, evidence-based, reflective and cost-effective medical practice, who have the capacity and desire to contribute to the enhancement of health care for persons in all geographic settings but particularly in regional, rural and remote communities.
As a Clinical Skills Officer you will provide high quality volunteer community engagement and administrative support for the Simulated Patient (SP) Program, which facilitates simulated clinical teaching for medical student education.
To be successful you will hold a Communications or Health related degree or have an equivalent combination of relevant experience/and/or education/training. Proficiency in the Microsoft office suite of programs is essential as well as exceptional interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal. You will have previous experience in engaging with volunteers and be adaptable to working in a dynamic environment where changes may occur unexpectedly. A capacity to handle confidential and sensitive information is crucial, as is a flexible approach to work with attention to detail. Your knowledge of medical terminology and experience in a university or tertiary environment will be highly regarded.

Special Job Requirements:
- This position has been classified as “child-related work”. Accordingly, you will be required to undertake and pass a Working with Children Clearance.
- You will be required to work outside standard business hours or additional hours depending on operational needs of the work unit. As per UOW Professional Staff Enterprise Agreement Technical staff span of hours are: Mon – Fri; 8am – 10:15pm, and Saturday 8am – 12pm.
- Manual handling of clinical simulation equipment (including sharps and animal tissues) in a risk-controlled environment will be a part of this role.
