About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fitter & Turner Machinist to join our team. In this role, you will take on the responsibility of machining complex parts, ranging from the very small to 5 tons. The ideal candidate should be adept at working both independently and collaboratively within a team. Proficiency in setting up and efficiently running machines is crucial to ensure the production of high-quality components within budget constraints.
As a Fitter Machinist, your primary duties include manufacturing precision metal parts using CNC lathes and or mills. A comprehensive understanding of engineering processes, materials, and practical experience are essential to producing top-notch parts safely and efficiently.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Thoroughly read and follow engineering drawings and production documentation.
- Plan processes in compliance with drawings, relevant Australian standards, and other production or testing requirements.
- Ensure safe and proper setup and use of equipment, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Conduct first-piece inspections and subsequent inspections as per Colmar SOP and customer/Australian standard requirements.
- Produce high-quality parts according to specified drawings and production documentation.
- Inspect parts for accuracy and quality.
- Safely pack, identify, and move finished parts to the next process/location.
- Monitor consumables stock for the machine and initiate purchases as needed.
- Maintain machine, tools, and equipment in good working condition, requesting maintenance when necessary.
- Perform simple maintenance and repairs as required, keeping the work area clean and organized.
- Physical fitness is essential, as the role may involve moving heavy loads.
- Previous experience in crane operation is advantageous.
