We are now looking for a CNC Programmer to work as part of our factory team based on Sydney's Northern Beaches on a full time basis working 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday to Thursday and early 1 p.m. finish on Fridays.
About the role:
This role will report to the Factory Manager and includes:
- Day to day programming of work for production using industry standard CAD and Enroute 7 and Toolpath.
- Supporting our Industrial Designers with adhoc tasks including prototypes
- Ensure all jobs are completed in line with specifications and deadlines by carefully checking details on the job cards and prioritising work
- Analyse and evaluate system program needs on the computer and load correct electronic files to facilitate the cutting process of the machine
- Review technical drawings to ensure design and capabilities are optimised
- Programs CNC by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, proving part programs.
- Use computer software to model cutting paths and program machines accordingly
- Review of cut paths and programs to ensure finished product meets drawing/design requested
- Consider tools required to cut particular materials and program machines accordingly
- Keep accurate records of past job layups
- Oversee and manage the CNC operator in the setup of equipment for cutting including installing and adjusting jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads
- Reads and understand technical drawings, and lays up cut paths and files to establish optimum cutting lay-up to minimise waste
- Ensure stock is in position to continue production runs, and collaborates with the production manager to order correct quantity once sheet requirements are established from nesting
About the candidate:
- Previous experience as Programmer for Laser / Plasma business, desirable
- Experience in industry standard CAD and Sigmanest software
- Experience in a manufacturing / fabrication environment
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Excellent customer service / negotiation skills
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
