The Aboriginal Health Clinical Practice Improvement - CNS2 position will plan, develop, implement, and evaluate strategies in response to the acute health needs of Aboriginal people within the Mid North Coast Local Health District.
The Aboriginal Health Clinical Practice Improvement will also support initiatives in collaboration with key stakeholders to collaborate, lead and or manage clinical service improvements for the Aboriginal population. This may include Models of Care (MOC) that promote integrated care and a flexible workforce.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 (CNS2) is a Registered Nurse who applies a high level of clinical nursing knowledge, experience, and skills in
providing complex nursing care directed towards a specific area of practice, a defined population or defined population or defined service area, with minimum direct supervision.
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine, which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course).
New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) immunisation history statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form).
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia with relevant post -registration qualifications and at least 3 years’ experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification OR other such qualification or equivalent experience deemed appropriate.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with others, and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to mentor and coach nursing staff to enhance professional development.
- Demonstrated ability in leading and initiating activities to improve service delivery and patient clinical outcomes.
- Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated capacity to work independently and collaboratively as part of a high performing team with the ability to motivate and coordinate staff.
- An understanding of the Issues and key policy and reforms to address Aboriginal disadvantage.
- Current NSW driver's licence and ability and willingness to travel for work purpose.
