Are you passionate about optimizing contractual outcomes in the dynamic realm of infrastructure construction? We're seeking a skilled Commercial Advisor to join our team and drive excellence in small-scale to medium infrastructure projects.
As a Commercial Advisor, you'll be at the forefront of optimizing contractual outcomes for our small-scale to medium infrastructure construction projects. Your primary responsibility will be the management of the Head contract and key supplier collaborations, ensuring the negotiated outcomes achieve AusNet’s targeted returns and is within the risk appetite. You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless delivery of projects while maximizing commercial benefits.
With a 3/2 Hybrid split Office / WFH , this role is based in Southbank and is part of the Commercial team, Development & Future Networks team.
This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:
- Provide strategic commercial advice to a multidisciplinary team throughout the construction of infrastructure projects to minimise risk and enhance AusNet's commercial outcomes.
- Responsible for the efficient contract administration and delivery of all commercial obligations across Head contract and key Supplier contracts, including by proactively advising the project team as to its ongoing obligations.
- Develop and implement excellent contract governance processes, focusing on delivery, value extraction, and risk management.
- Assess and manage contract claims in a timely manner, providing strategic advice and escalating disputes when necessary.
- Ensure key commercial risks are identified and appropriate treatments are proposed for review and approval from a commercial, financial and contract management perspective.
- Utilize well established communication and negotiation skills to influence project budgets and profitability.
- Identify, assess, and manage commercial opportunities within the project(s).
- Contribute to safety and cybersecurity standards, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrate strong commercial acumen and stakeholder engagement skills to address project needs.
- Build trusting relationships with AusNet client(s) and delivery partners to foster continued collaboration, engagement, and mutually beneficial outcomes.
You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:
- Relevant qualifications in business, accounting, finance, law or equivalent speciality.
- Experience in contract administration and contract management of $20m+ projects.
- High level of commercial acumen with an ability to clearly assess risk and implement mitigation actions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong collaboration, and negotiation skills.
- Analytical thinker with excellent attention to detail and ability to influence decisions.
- Ability to track budget impacts and influence project profitability through making commercially sound decisions.
- Ability to develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate as part of a supportive high-performing team
