Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Commercial & Legal Manager will use their extensive experience and legal knowledge to provide advice, direction and strategy for commercial policy, procedures, legal and other requirements to support the enterprise.
This role will need to apply innovation, knowledge, legal principles and critical commercial risk and performance requirements not only to procurement and contract management but the enterprise-wide environment. This includes commercialization opportunities and proactively developing, implementing, and managing contractual obligations.
The Commercial & Legal Manager will use expert legal knowledge and critical thinking to provide fundamental support to the enterprise. With professional business acumen, the Commercial & Legal Manager will work together with internal stakeholders to monitor and implement processes and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant laws, policies and regulations impacting the enterprise. This includes commercial, HR and employment law matters, Export Control Act, Corporations Act and any other relevant legislation, representing the enterprise in external negotiations or discussions with key stakeholders.
The Commercial & Legal Manager will use their superior communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to assist the identification of project and strategic issues, contributing innovative solutions that comply with the regulatory and legal requirements to achieve maximised economic outcomes.

Defence industry experience will be highly regarded, but candidates with other Commercial Management industry experience will also be considered.
Possessing some, or all, of the following experience/qualities will be advantageous for this position:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; legal qualifications will be highly regarded.
- 5+ years of Commercial & Legal Management experience.
- Impeccable attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to understand/implement processes and practices that comply with legal/regulatory requirements.
- Ability to identify and mitigate business risk.
- Experience negotiating and planning contracts, with the ability to maximise enterprise value.
- Proven knowledge of Fair Work practices and guidelines.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, as well as work autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Prepare commercial letters, and other correspondence as required.
- Knowledge and practical application of US and Australian Export Controls Systems
- Experience and knowledge of intellectual property, including IP management processes, patent support, and licensing management).
- Demonstrated ability to work in high pressure situations, managing multiple time-critical tasks.
- Superior adaptability, flexibility, and extensive coordination skills will be highly regarded.
