Our client is looking for a Communications Advisor to support projects in the design, construction and maintenance phases within their Delivery Team providing communications services to assigned projects. This is a long term, three-year contract working for a large QLD Govt Department on the Sunshine Coast.
In the role of Communications Advisor, you will actively participate as a member of the Stakeholder Management Unit to ensure effective relationship outcomes for regional projects. You will be required to advise on, develop, implement and monitor a range of high quality and timely communications services relating to community engagement, stakeholder relationship management, reputational and issues management, media relations, executive correspondence and internal communications for projects in the design and construction phases.
Accountabilities include the following:
- Provide high level communication advice and support to regional staff on communication strategies for key stakeholder and community engagement on road infrastructure projects in the design and construction phases using appropriate communication tools and processes to develop, implement and monitor activities.
- Research and gather information and write articles for various project materials, including newsletters, construction notifications, webpage content, online engagement information, reporting and so on.
- Coordinate and write media statements, responses to media enquiries, speech notes and other communications materials for the Minister’s office and senior management.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate cooperation, coordination and enhanced communication channels.
While qualifications are not mandatory, a degree in communications, public relations, journalism or marketing would be highly desirable. An understanding of Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia framework and how it applies to infrastructure projects is also desirable. Ideally, we are looking for someone for this role who has worked in a communication or community engagement role in an environment dealing with major infrastructure projects, particularly in the transport or civil engineering sector or the public sector. You will need to hold a valid Class ‘C’ Drivers License.
