About the role
We're seeking a Communications and Engagement Advisor to contribute to shaping community relations, stakeholder engagement, and communications for Transurban projects and operations in Queensland.
This position will ensure the community and relevant internal and external stakeholders are engaged and informed about any construction/maintenance works or projects. The Advisor will also assist with impactful communication strategies and campaigns on various initiatives relating to road safety, customers and the community.

Day-to-day, you will:
- Collaborate with various teams (maintenance/project delivery/operations/assets) and service providers to ensure timely responses to community enquiries/complaints in alignment with Transurban Queensland's Stakeholder Engagement Framework and values
- Support the strategy for building community partnerships and Engagement opportunities, including participation in local events within Transurban's's communities
- Support road safety partnerships by identifying proactive leverage opportunities, managing reporting obligations, and engaging key stakeholders
- Proactively engage in road safety action plan meetings and contribute to strategic campaigns for road safety messages across all channels
- Assist operations and maintenance with communication needs
- Cultivate strong internal relationships to stay informed about emerging issues
- Support the development of effective media strategies to manage issues and identify opportunities as they arise
- Lead the coordination, development, and delivery of communication plans and strategies for road works, closures, and events, ensuring effective communication via web, social media, stakeholder engagement, and advertising
- Participate in on-call roster for community and media phone and Incident Management Team as required .
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:
- Previous experience as an Advisor or similar in community relations, corporate communications, or public relations
- Demonstrated expertise in project communications, community engagement strategies, and desirable experience in roadworks development
- Ability to identify and address emerging community, media, and stakeholder issues, providing strategic advice and developing risk management strategies
- Proven skill in creating and implementing communication strategies across various channels, including digital, to support business objectives
- Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent project management and analytical skills to prioritise community considerations and optimise outcomes for Transurban
- Ability to build trust, foster relationships, and influence others effectively, even under tight deadlines and in high-pressure situations
- Excellent verbal and written communication, public presentation, and interpersonal skills
- High level of organisational and administrative skills
- Must hold a valid driver's licence to drive to sites and meetings with external stakeholders
- Preferably qualified in Journalism, Communications, and/or Public Relations with IAP2 certification
