About the Role

As a member of the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP) team you will use your skills to engage with a diverse range of internal and external project stakeholders and develop and implement community and engagement strategies to support John Holland's delivery activities. You will use your communication skills to identify and develop content to support the promotion of the project at a project and organisational level, and coordinate and manage client communication requests on behalf of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of the project's Community and Stakeholder Management Plan, Local Content and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Participation Plan.

  • Proactively identify stakeholder and community issues and contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to respond to and minimise impacts.

  • Liaise with the construction team to identify upcoming works and impacts to be included in community notifications.

  • Ensure all community interactions experienced by John Holland personnel are reported to client for inclusion in the Consultation Manager Database.

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of internal communications including inductions, toolbox talks, subcontractor onboarding and presentations.

  • Liaise with John Holland and client to support the delivery of site visits, presentations, milestone events and industry forums.

  • Identify and communicate client information, data needs and performance expectations to broader project team.

  • Contribute to the identification of positive media and social media opportunities for the project and liaise with John Holland and client's teams to seek approval for and placement of materials.

  • Participate in the engagement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders and organisations relevant to project delivery activities aligned with client's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Participation Plan.

  • Co-ordinate project milestone events and celebrations, culturally significant events including NAIDOC week and National Reconciliation Week.

  • Identify and participate in managing issues and risks pertaining to the project within role scope and escalate issues and risks to the Project Manager.

Key Requirements:

  • Tertiary Degree (Bachelor level) or certificate or relevant experience (Disciplines relevant to function area, e.g., public relations, journalism, stakeholder management)

  • Experience in communications & stakeholder roles for infrastructure projects OR related experience (e.g. corporate communications, stakeholder relations in major organisations, government, or consultancy)

  • Ability to develop and deliver communication and engagement approaches that achieve project objectives.

  • Highly developed skills in building effective internal and external relationships.

  • Excellent communication and people skills, and emerging leadership skills.

  • Confidence in liaising with construction team members, including identifying and raising potential issues.

  • Well-developed ability to proactively identify emerging issues and propose and implement effective mitigations.

  • Strong community and team focus, and safety and environmental awareness.
