Department purpose
Our coordinated marketing, business development and communication teams in the APAC region contribute to the setting and achievement of the firm’s business objectives, which include improving our client relationships, increasing the visibility of the firm globally, and supporting our partners and associates in their pursuit of becoming our clients’ trusted advisers.
Role purpose
We are looking for an 18 month fixed term contract to cover from May 2023 to Oct 2024 to support the delivery of bold, insightful and strategic communication & BD campaigns. The role will focus on leveraging media and digital marketing platforms (such as social media, media, video, website content and beyond) to deliver high-quality integrated campaigns in the region. This role will be based in Sydney or Hong Kong.

Role and responsibilities
Working closely with the Senior Marketing & Communications Manager for APAC and the APAC Heads of BD, the role will be focused on supporting the following broad objectives, addressing both internal and external stakeholders.
Identifying opportunities to promote the brand as well as protect the brand.
Working closely with local and regional champions for Diversity & Inclusion, Pro Bono & Community Investment, and Mental Health to profile the brand and build community support internally and externally.
Identity opportunities to support the A&O Employer brand alongside local HR teams.
Working with the business development team to understand marketing goals, challenges, perception gaps, and then advising on the development and execution of bold and insightful media and digital campaigns, which are well thought-out and measurable.
Identifying opportunities to leverage global thought leadership/campaigns at an APAC level aligned with the global and regional strategy.
Helping to embed best practice in communications across the region.
Remain innovative as a function to ensure our communications efforts help A&O standout amongst our competitors as well as ensure we remain focus on being the most advanced law firm.
Managing any reputational issues and advising on communications strategies and approaches internally and externally
Key requirements
Proven experience in developing and executing high quality, innovative social media campaigns using LinkedIn and Wechat. A good understanding of best practice vis-a-vis social media trends/algorithms.
Client-centric in approach and commercially minded.
Deep media relations experience, particularly in successfully building profile and managing potential risks.
Possess the ability to see the big picture, but also pay tight attention to detail.
Strong organisational/project management skills with the ability to plan ahead and execute to task.
Excellent track record of working with senior management within a complex international organisation.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface at all levels and particularly to win the respect of the senior management community.
Strong influencing skills - able to convince and articulate verbally and in writing.
Excellent track record of using their initiative and creativity to conceptualise, execute and influence on strategic projects/campaigns.
Able to deal with multiple priorities and urgent situations as they arise; the ability to be flexible when needed to adapt to fast changing dynamics; resilient under pressure.
Friendly and approachable to all levels of staff.
International outlook and understanding of cultural nuances of doing business in the APAC region.
Able to be discrete and handle sensitive/confidential information.
Collaborative team player with the ability to nurture and work in a fast paced, intellectually rigorous environment.

Who we are looking for
A commercial and ambitious individual who is intellectually curious, strategic in thinking and has experience supporting integrated marketing campaigns with measureable results.
Experience in public relations or corporate communications.
Experienced in using a range of digital marketing platforms and tools (e.g. Content Management tools, WeChat, LinkedIn, Google Analytics, Oktopost, Hootsuite etc),
An individual who is keen to listen, learn and engage with internal stakeholders to make an impact and add value.
Excellent writing and communication skills
Someone with experience and an understanding of traditional media and social media (opportunities and risks).
Someone who has an understanding of and interested in media, news and editorial priorities.
Takes ownership of tasks, can meet deadlines and thrives under pressure.
Comfortable with technology; filming and video production a plus.
