Christ Church St Ives is seeking an experienced and creative Communications Director. The role is part time for up to 26.25 hours (3.5 days) per week.
Christ Church St Ives is a growing Anglican Church that exists to build wholehearted disciples of Jesus who will transform the world with his gospel. In a sizable multi-generational church community, high quality communications via multiple media channels are a key part of furthering Christ Church’s mission and vision. While the Ministry Team decides what it is we are doing as a church, the Communications Director has responsibility for shaping how we communicate this effectively, and for getting the communication done.
The Communications Director is responsible for:
- Developing and overseeing Christ Church’s communications strategy and channels
- Developing Christ Church’s brand and consistency of visual identity
- Project management and execution of communications and creative campaigns from collaborative planning & conceptual stage to delivery. This may include the development and oversight of volunteer teams as well as working with skilled contractors where appropriate.
- Collaborating with Ministry Team and others to upskill and support them in developing excellent resources and communicating effectively to achieve desired outcomes
Candidates for this position should have:
- Evidence of a commitment to following Jesus, with active involvement in a local congregation
- Relevant degree or at least 4 years professional experience in communications including media production, processes and platforms
- A keen eye for high-quality, simple and clean visual communications and graphic design
- Proven capability in the design, development and operation of digital, social and print media and communications
- Proficient computer use with current skills in or ability to learn multiple platforms including: Squarespace, Mailchimp, Facebook, Instagram, elvanto, Slack, Google Suite
- Excellent people and administration skills including:
- Ability to engage and coordinate volunteers and contractors in the production of communications and media projects and tasks
- Ability to prioritise, exercising flexibility and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Integrity, pastoral sensitivity and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work well with a diverse, multi-disciplinary staff team
- Joy in doing ‘humble tasks’ well, for the glory of Jesus and in service of his people.
The position is negotiable for up to 26.25 hours per week (which may be worked over 3.5-5 days). It is a permanent role subject to a 6 month probationary period. The base salary will be in the range $76-82k p.a. full time equivalent (pro-rata part time) and will be determined in light of the successful applicant’s experience, training and skills. In addition, superannuation at the statutory rate will be paid into the fund of your choice.
