School Infrastructure NSW (SINSW) is delivering new school buildings, major upgrades and maintenance strategies to ensure every school-aged child has access to high quality education facilities at their local public school. This encompasses the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.
Your role as the Communications & Engagement officer is to support the SINSW Senior Communications and Engagements Managers in implementing the strategy, and process improvement for regional stakeholder and community engagement on behalf of SINSW. As required, the role liaises with the external agencies and SINSW asset management and program leads to assist with the delivery of communication and engagement tasks.
The role will require you to:
- Co-develop, implement and evaluate best practice communication and engagement strategies to effectively engage a range of different communities and key stakeholders around asset planning and management.
- Produce a range of appropriate communication tools and materials tailored to different audiences. This could include web content, flyers, newsletters, videos, social media content and advertising activities.
- Support the development and implementation of a range of community and stakeholder engagement tools and techniques such as community forums and events, consultation workshops, briefings, surveys or community outreach activities.
About You
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of communication and engagement plans, tools and materials targeted to internal and external audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills in developing and maintaining strong collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and project management skills while working on multiple concurrent projects to ensure activities are well coordinated and delivered on time.
- Strong communication skills and sensitivity when responding to urgent matters and dealing with complex and contentious issues.
- Tertiary qualification in communications or a related discipline and/or equivalent experience within community engagement.
- Ability to travel to outer suburban and regional locations, and work outside of core business hours in the evening and on weekends, as required.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
- Experience in community consultation and engagement, either in the public or private sector.
