Our Partnership is seeking expressions of interest for a dynamic individual to join our team on a part time basis (0.4 FTE) as a communications advisor The successful candidate would work closely with the Executive Officer to deliver engaging content through our social media pages and webpage. The candidate would also write and review communications pieces that align with the Partnership's core objectives.
Location and Remuneration
The ideal candidate would be locally based and have their own ABN, home office and IT equipment (remote candidates will also be considered depending on experience). We are offering a one-year contract of $55,000AUD for the right candidate for the 0.4FTE role.
About the organisation
The Dry Tropics Partnership for Healthy Waters (the Partnership) is a collaborative initiative involving government, industry, conservation and community groups, and research agencies. Its mission is to develop and implement a reporting program that communicates the health of waterways and marine environments and informs management actions in the Townsville region. The region includes the Black and Ross River basins, and the estuarine and marine environments of Cleveland and Halifax Bays, and Magnetic Island
Roles and primary duties
- Develop, implement, and evaluate integrated communication strategies designed to educate and influence behaviours.
- Create engaging content from the Partnership's technical reports and community engagement work.
- Help design a communications calendar and contribute to the strategic planning of the Partnership.
- Implement appropriate metrics that evaluate the success and impact of communication strategies, including stakeholder feedback to allow for continuous improvement of the actual communications and messaging.
- Review and improve systems and processes and report monthly on activities, performance, and trends (including social media engagement).
- Assist in the drafting and delivery of media releases and announcements.
- Manage specialist contractors and consultants as required, which may include digital, graphic, and video development.
- Undertake any other general communication duties as requested by the executive officer.
- A qualification or extensive experience in digital engagement, graphic design, marketing/communications, and/or journalism.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to create and manage content for social media platforms.
- Familiarity with graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite).
- Report writing and strategic planning.
- Previous experience in science communications would be highly desirable.
- Web design and publishing experience.
