About the position
Council’s Community Strengthening Department is looking for a Community Development Officer who will play a key part in supporting community centre staff, volunteers, and partners to actively engage with the community, develop and implement a diverse range of programs, services, and events that meet local needs, build community capacity, and enable social and economic participation for all local residents.
The main responsibilities will include:
Engage community, particularly marginalised and hard to reach residents to identify priorities and needs.
Develop, deliver and evaluate a range of Community Development programs, activities and events to meet local needs.
Develop strong and positive partnerships with residents, community groups, community service organisations and government agencies to achieve objectives.
Maintain an up-to-date understanding of local services, community organisations, agencies and the education sector encouraging engagement and participation.
About you
Qualifications in Community Development or related field, with proven experience in similar roles.
Strong organisational, time management, and self-motivation skills.
Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, databases, and social media.

This position is a Band 5 currently remunerated between $78,589.24 - $90,272.36 per annum, plus superannuation. Salary level will be based on the experience level of the candidate. Overtime will also be paid as required.
