THE ROLE
IGO is an ASX100 clean energy mining and exploration company that has seen significant growth in operations and exploration projects in recent years. We have three underground Nickel operations, a 170-person corporate office and a large exploration team working across Australia. We also have a significant indirect interest in the Greenbushes lithium mine through a joint venture.
Our Nova Nickel Operation is located in the Fraser Range, approximately 160km east of Norseman, 360km southeast of Kalgoorlie and 380km from Esperance. The Ngadju people are the Traditional Owners and custodians of this area. We have a rare opportunity and are seeking applications from Ngadju Traditional Owners for the role of Community Engagement and Heritage Officer.
This role exists to support the business and ensure ongoing long-term relationships between IGO and the wider Ngadju Community, specifically relating to employment, training and cultural awareness at our Nova Operation. ‘
Key responsibilities include:
- Liaise and build rapport with key stakeholders at all levels, including senior management, government organisations and community groups;
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Ngadju community;
- Facilitate activities that support education, vocational and job readiness training for Ngadju people in collaboration with Ngadju Native Title Aboriginal Corporation (NNTAC);
- Provide advice, coaching and support to IGO leaders and employees regarding community relations and aboriginal engagement;
- Act as conduit between community and IGO and assist in Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and other Aboriginal engagement initiatives;
- Be a point of contact for Ngadju employees at Nova, acting as support and consulting with their department areas; and
- Champion the implementation of Group Community Standards and Aboriginal Employment initiatives at Nova.
YOUR EXPERIENCE
To be successful in the role you must be able to demonstrate:
- Relevant experience in similar role, preferably in Mining Operations;
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving and conflict resolution skills;
- Ability to coach, mentor and supervise Aboriginal employees in the workplace;
- Sound computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office;
- Must be of Ngadju heritage;
- Valid ‘C’ class driver’s licence; and
- National Police Clearance obtained within the last two months.
