About the Role

This is an exciting new opportunity for a passionate and driven Community Engagement Manager to join our diverse and proactive organisation.

Reporting to the Group Manager Community Partnerships, the Community Engagement Manager will play an integral role in forming constructive and productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including Government agencies, to deliver engagement outcomes that support Council’s strategic vision.

What you will be doing:

  • Leading and facilitating community participation and engagement initiatives.
  • Building strong collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, sharing knowledge and facilitating positive engagement outcomes.
  • Prioritising and triaging key community concerns in a dynamic stakeholder environment.
  • Implementing monitoring and evaluation strategies relating to engagement effectiveness.
  • Managing project teams, internal and external, to achieve milestones.
  • Working with the Group Manager Community Partnerships to provide considered advice and expertise to the Leadership Team and Mayor on Community Engagement issues.

About You: The Successful Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will possess tertiary qualifications in public relations, communications or Community Engagement, or demonstrated equivalent industry experience.

You will also have proven stakeholder engagement capability and relationship management skills; excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills; knowledge of effective Community Engagement principles and techniques; and experience with reporting and evaluating Community Engagement effectiveness.

Although not essential, the ideal candidate will also possess IAP2 accreditation; previous experience in a Local Government engagement environment; and previous experience working with First Nations communities in a culturally competent manner.
