We are seeking someone dynamic who will provide leadership and support in the implementation and maintenance of consumer, peer worker service development strategies across Drug Health Services.These strategies aim to improve the health of the community, reduce the drug and alcohol related harm for people that use substances and increase access to treatment for those requiring specialist drug and alcohol services.The position also liaises and develops partnerships with NGOs, consumer organisations and other key stakeholders to improve outcomes for people that use substances.Where You'll Be Working
Drug Health Services operates across South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD), providing a range of treatments and interventions at hospitals and community health centres to support individuals, their families and carers who have problems associated with alcohol and other drug use.The aim of Drug Health Services is to improve health and reduce drug-related harm for individuals, their families and carers, and the wider community of South Western Sydney. The Drug Health Services offered by our district are at the forefront of new initiatives, methods and models of care and aim to ensure patient centred care for the local community.The service boasts a strong, supportive and driven team who actively work together to ensure opportunities for development. The Management team are always willing to train, mentor and develop employees to reach their goals and make a true difference to the district. We have a range of education and training opportunities including scholarships and other internal education programs which focus on succession planning throughout the district.The Drug Health Services Team is a high performing team who strive for excellence in providing leading care and healthier communities. To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible. View our for information on how to respond to criteria and . * Relevant qualifications and/or experience in working in consumer engagement, participation and collaborative partnerships.

  • Demonstrated experience in planning, design, implementation, evaluation and accreditation of services within a healthcare setting.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills, and the ability to communicate, network, work and consult effectively with members of the community, community groups, health professionals, health interest groups and Government agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in community development, capacity building, project management
  • Strong problem solving skills including ability to analyse and interpret information, deal with challenges creatively and achieve consumer focused outcomes.
  • Strong leadership, advocacy and management skills to support consumer focused services.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and demands.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using online tools, web based programs and social media as a tool to promote community initiatives and manage funding programs.
  • Must possess a valid Australian Drivers Licence (excluding learner driver's licences). If not already in possession, a NSW Drivers Licence must be obtained within 3 months of appointment.
