The Wet Tropics Management Authority welcomes applications for a full-time Community Engagement Officer (AO4) to work within the Yellow Crazy Ant Eradication Program in Cairns. The successful applicant will be a self motivated individual who is enthusiastic and driven to improve the protection and management of the World Heritage Area. You will play a key role in promoting the Yellow Crazy Ant Eradication Program through a range of Community Engagement, education and communication activities. This involves organising Community Engagement events, providing support to program activities and engaging stakeholders and communities in relation to education and awareness. As a Community Engagement Officer (AO4) you will:
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to create strategies, opportunities and products to support community education, engagement and awareness of the Wet Tropics Management Authority's Yellow Crazy Ant Eradication Program (Eradication Program).
- Liaise and develop cooperative relationships with stakeholders and the broader community to encourage participation in the Eradication Program and promote ongoing interest and support.
- Provide secretariat and other support services to the Yellow Crazy Ant Reference Group.
- Work with team members to prepare and deliver a range of promotional and education materials.
- Respond to requests for information from media, schools, government, industry and others about the Eradication Program.
- Deliver workshops, displays and presentations to raise awareness of yellow crazy ants and Eradication Program activities. This may involve some weekend work.
- Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.
