About the Opportunity

As Community Housing Officer, working part time, you will build solid and proactive relationships with our renters to find and sustain suitable tenancy and re-enable their approach to long-term housing accommodation. You will collaborate with other Uniting Support Services to manage a range of tenancy and property functions within a dedicated portfolio ensuring that the balance between renter satisfaction and legislation is maintained.

Working with our renters, you will re-enable them by:

  • Understanding the contributing factors that lead to houselessness
  • Proactively addressing rent arrears and other tenancy breaches incl. complaints and incidents
  • Ensuring maintenance of rental properties is timely and completed satisfactorily
  • Identifying and assessing potential renters for vacant properties
  • Managing our properties inline with legislation and Uniting policies

In addition to a salary commencing at $47.50 per hour + superannuation, you’ll also receive 17.5% leave loading and access to the full $15,900 salary packaging benefits. There is also the option to increase your annual leave entitlements through our purchase leave program.

You can access a 10% discount on the childcare subsidy gap fee when using a Uniting Early Learning service or centre and we also offer a 25% discount off donated goods at Uniting Op shops.

About you

You enjoy working in housing and or property management and are currently working in real estate or public housing or with another agency. You seek a role that has more meaning and where you can truly see the positive impacts of the work that you do.

To make an impact, you will have:

  • Degree or Diploma in a relevant discipline, including community services, social sciences, social housing management
  • Solid understanding of the legal aspects of tenancy management
  • Demonstrated experience in residential property management
  • Empathy and compassion toward vulnerable Victorians
  • Solid administration skills and capability
