Job Description:
As a Communitiy Liaison Officer - at Fair Game, you will be pivotal in fostering positive relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, families, and individuals. Working closely with our health promotion outreach team, you will contribute to activities by facilitating community engagement and the implementation of culturally appropriate initiatives. This exciting new role will enable the candidate to build and nurture relationships with communities across the state and advise Fair Game on how we can work with communities to better meet their needs. Connecting with the community face to face will be an integral part of the role. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to travel to some of WA’s most unique remote communities. This role will add significant value to the cultural capability and safety of our organisation, in a well supported environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Stakeholder engagement in communities where Fair Game delivers programs to ensure cultural responsiveness and community needs are met.
2. Provide advice to the project team to support relationship-building with Indigenous community members and organisations.
3. Assist in codesign for projects involving Indigenous communities.
4. Support the planning and management of data collection and data entry processes.
5. Visit community groups to promote Fair Game's projects and share Fair Game's programs effectively.
6. Facilitate yarning circles and community gatherings, ensuring adherence to cultural protocols and gender-specific considerations.
Requirements:
- Working With Childrens Check
- Passion for working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander families and improving physical and mental health outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience in working with Indigenous communities in a culturally appropriate manner.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to embracing inclusion and diversity in the workplace and in the community
- Community engagement experience.
