It was a simple promise Legacy keeps today. We currently support over 5,800 widow(er)s, 121 people with a disability, 217 Legacy youth and over 40 families.
About the Opportunity (9-day fortnight)
Based in Legacy’s South Brisbane office, the Community Service Officer (CSO) provides support services to young widowed families and older war widows/ers and for developing and providing information, advice and support to Legacy Brisbane Contact Groups (Redlands, Wynnum and South East), Legatees (Legacy volunteers) and volunteers.
This role also supports provision of client events throughout the calendar year, including the annual ANZAC Day March and Summer Youth Camp (4 days).
Key responsibilities include:
- Client enrolments, intake and assessment, support planning and reviews.
- Personal support (including bereavement support), information, advocacy and referral.
- Coordination of complex client interventions.
- Assist with or conduct DVA pension applications for new widows/widowers.
- Inform, support and enable the work of Legatees (volunteers) in service provision to clients via attendance at Contact Group meetings and communications with individual Legatees.
- Event participation and support.
About You
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work or other relevant subject or equivalent level of experience.
- Demonstrated experience in assessment and planning to client services such as aged care, home care, youth, mental health, or disability.
- Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficient in MS365 suite.
- Valid Queensland Driver's Licence.
- National Police Check and Blue Card
