We are looking for a Condition Monitoring Advisor to join our Yarwun Team. The purpose of this role is to assist the Condition Monitoring (CM) team at Yarwun Alumina Refinery through management and development CM processes, systems and procedures. We are looking for a Condition Monitoring professionals who wish to develop skills in customer engagement, quality assurance and control, and technology development.
This role will have a focus on engagement and support across cross-functional teams and stakeholders to improve our Condition Monitoring program, and a focus on identifying and integrating Condition Monitoring technologies onsite.
You will ensure all Condition Monitoring inspections and reports developed for Yarwun assets are collated and centralised for compliance with existing reporting processes and systems and participate in ongoing reviews to ensure alignment with site procedures. You will be a key contact for engaging in internal and external stakeholders to ensure all work is completed to site standards and assist in managing QA/QC for Condition Monitoring onsite.

Reporting to the Asset Assurance Superintendent and working a 9- day fortnight you will be:
- Ensure all Condition Monitoring inspections and reports developed for Yarwun assets are collated and centralised for compliance in SAP.
- Liaise and direct contractors to manage CM reports and action findings are suitable developed, captured and recorded in Yarwun site systems
- Develop and manage the pipeline of technology for Condition Monitoring practices onsite.
- Participate in reviews of CM reports for compliance with relevant site standards and practices to ensure QA and QC procedures are correctly followed.
- Act as a mentor to Condition Monitoring technicians, helping assist them in technical and non technical questions and practices.
- Participate in and support the RTA Condition Monitoring work groups, forums and teams to improve CM practices at Yarwun and collaborate and learn from other RTA and broader Rio Tinto sites.
- Ensure all CM tooling and equipment is effectively calibrated, repaired and replaced as required. Develop a repair and replacement schedule for all CM tooling and equipment.
- Qualifications and Certification in Condition Monitoring practices (NDT, VA, Inspecting), OR sufficient experience in relevant trade or engineering working alongside Condition Monitoring teams.
- Experience developing and managing Quality Assurance and Quality Control programs.
- Experience developing and managing reporting structures.
- Passion and experience with trialling and integrating new technologies.
- High levels of written and verbal communication.

Where you’ll be working
With production beginning in 2004 at our Yarwun alumina refinery, located approximately 10 kilometres north-west of Gladstone in Central Queensland, today the operation produces more than three million tonnes of alumina per year.
Around 700 people support the operation, with an additional 350 contractors on site each year as part of scheduled maintenance shutdown activities. Thanks to its ‘Industry 4.0’ focus, Yarwun is also a leader in trialling new technologies to improve operations on site, including 3D printing, robotics and drones in confined spaces, and is home to Rio Tinto’s innovative Queensland Research and Development Centre (QRDC).
