Connected And Active Communities - Project Officer

We are seeking applications from highly motivated and enthusiastic people for the position of Connected and Active CommunitiesProject Officer (3 Year Contract - 0.8 FTE).

This is an exciting career opportunity to work for the dynamic, community focused and progressive Councils in the Riverland of South Australia being Loxton Waikerie, Renmark Paringa and Berri Barmera. This position is funded by the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing and will be hosted by the District Council of Loxton Waikerie while working and servicing the whole of the Riverland.

The Riverland is located just a short 2 hour drive from Adelaide, our region includes a diverse mix of industries supporting our horticulture, viticulture and agricultural enterprises which complements the growing retail and tourism sectors.  Our communities offer a broad range of health, education, tourism and sporting facilities with many recreational activities for families which supports the relaxing lifestyle along the Murray River.

Position Initiatives Include:

• Building the capacity of current and future leaders within the sport and recreation community through new and existing programs
• Developing ongoing understanding of where clubs, associations and community groups are in regard to their governance, volunteerism, facilities, programs and needs
• To assist Councils to maximise the usage and impact of existing sport and recreation facilities within the Riverland
• Leverage the power and role that sport and recreation play in the community into new programs and revenue streams from aligned government agencies and corporate partners
• To scope the opportunity to create a Riverland Sporting Academy to drive athlete, coach and official development. To provide links from schools to sport and recreation clubs.
• To improve the governance, strategic planning, grant writing, volunteering and coaching capacity within clubs to impact sustainability and club culture.
